Demand Side Management - ADICA
HOW WILL DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS EFFECT PLANT OPERATIONS, ELECTRICITY PRICES, CONSUMPTION AND CARBON EMISSIONS?
ADICA’s Smart Market® analytics provide knowledge for designing energy markets of the future. Demand side management has the potential to reduce consumer costs, reduce peak load, and thereby lower the investment needs in generation and transmission capacity. Demand side management also has the added benefit of reducing carbon emissions. There are several approaches for demand side management, such as energy efficiency, time-of-use pricing, and real time pricing. One common element in all of these approaches is a change in the behaviour of energy consumers. Traditional supply-side analytics cannot support decision making in a Smart Grid environment where demand side management plays a crucial role. New tools are required to study the behavior of consumers in restructured electricity markets. ADICA partners with Argonne National Laboratory to develop advanced analytics that address national energy priorities. Our Smart Market® software uses an innovative agent-based approach to model the independent behavior of energy consumers and suppliers. ADICA’s software is used by energy suppliers and regulators on five continents to make informed operational, investment, and policy decisions. With more accurate analytics, energy companies are better able to reduce risk, balance supply with demand, conserve resources, reduce capital expenditures, and increase profits. |
